Klomjit Chandrapanya is an SEI Affiliated Researcher with SEI Asia Centre. She currently works as the International Project Coordination Advisor of the Ayeyarwady Integrated River Basin Management Project, based in Myanmar.

Prior to taking up this position, Klomjit was Senior Advisor for Asia at the Shared Waters Partnership at the Stockholm International Water Institute, supporting riparian efforts on shared waters and commitment to regional processes that advance cooperation in regions where water could be a source of conflict, by deploying technical assistance, initiating riparian dialogues and supporting multi-stakeholder platforms and capacity-building activities.

Klomjit has been working on transboundary water cooperation since 2010, first with the Mekong River Commission in charge of international cooperation, strategy development and engaging key stakeholders, after which she served as  Senior Mekong Affairs Advisor for the USAID Regional Development Mission for Asia.

Her earlier career was in journalism with the Nation newspaper (environment, foreign affairs) in Thailand and working on communications for UNEP’s Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, the UN Department of Public Information in New York, the International AIDS Society and the World Health Organization’s HIV/AIDS Department in Geneva.

Klomjit holds a Masters of Arts (M.A.) in Southeast Asia Studies and Economic Development from the Johns Hopkins University – Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies, USA.
