Raja Asvanon

Raja Asvanon joins SEI Asia as a Research Associate in the urban cluster. He has previously researched urban sustainability through the lens of urban climate adaptation and spatial justice.

His previous research experience was in Freetown, Sierra Leone, where he collaborated with the Sierra Leone Urban Research Centre to examine the issues of land and tenure security and mobility justice of informal settlements in Dwarzack in order to address pathways to disrupt the cycles of urban risk accumulation in the city.

Before joining SEI, he worked as a consultant at ERM (Environmental Resources Management) and environmentalist at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Thailand, where he focused on renewable energy development (on- and off-grid), ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) and national planning for climate empowerment in line with UNFCCC’s Article 6.

He is a Chevening Scholar and holds an MSc in Environment and Sustainable Development (Distinction) from the Bartlett Development Planning Unit, UCL (University College London).
