SEI researchers have updated their database of fossil fuel production mentions in long-term, low emissions development strategies (LT-LEDS) and nationally determined contributions (NDCs) for every country.

Fossil fuel production cannot continue at its current level if the long-term temperature goals of the Paris Agreement are to be achieved.
In recent years, dozens of fossil fuel-producing countries have submitted plans to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change outlining their long-term, low emissions development strategies (LT-LEDS) and their new or updated nationally determined contributions (NDCs). SEI scientists have incrementally identified and analysed the growing number of national plans addressing fossil fuel production and their potential implications for climate change.
This year, researchers have released a new dataset featuring updated NDCs and LT-LEDS submitted up to COP26 in Glasgow in November 2021. It contains each country’s LT-LEDS and their first- and second-round NDCs where applicable.
