Camilo Martelo

Communications

Camilo is a Communications Assistant at SEI Latin America. He currently supports the center’s communications activities, including leading SEI’s social media strategy in Spanish, creating and overseeing the production of audiovisual and graphic products, supporting the publication process of key reports, and creating content for SEI’s digital channels. Camilo holds a bachelor’s degree in communications with a concentration in development (C4D) and education from the University of Cartagena and is a Facebook-certified digital marketing associate.

Before joining SEI, Camilo worked for the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) supporting communications and knowledge management activities of the UNDP/GEF Caribbean and North Brazil Shelf Large Marine Ecosystems (CLME+) project. His background also includes research experience in projects related to the social impact of mass media, social appropriation of knowledge, community development, social change, and more recently the use of communication for increasing citizens’ contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Camilo is passionate about facilitating development through a combination of participatory activities in the field and digital platforms. He is a current member of the Communication for Development (C4D) network, a global community of professionals working in C4D.
