Jana Busch

Jana is a Communications Specialist at SEI York. She is a passionate advocate for sustainable development and climate action, creating meaningful research impact around the world. Jana joined SEI York in March 2023, and provides communications expertise on a number of York-led projects including SEI’s City Health and Well-being Initiative and the DECIDE project. In her role and with a talent for translating complex scientific information into engaging formats for diverse audiences, Jana aims to ensure that the latest research in the field is not only communicated but also understood.

Jana holds an undergraduate degree in Sustainable Development and a master’s degree in Environmental Science, specializing in Environmental Communication. Currently, she is completing her PhD at the School of Environmental Science at the University of Hull, studying universities’ contributions to sustainable development, including net-zero targets and circular economy implementations on university campuses. As a teaching assistant in Human Geography modules at SES, Jana has developed strong skills in effectively communicating scientific content to engage students on various topics.

Previously, Jana worked at a global NGO driving sustainability in the textile industry, where she successfully coordinated small-scale conferences and roundtable events, managed portfolios of stakeholders and sponsors, and developed tailored communications strategies and materials for diverse audiences. She also contributed to researching and writing annual market reports on developments in sustainability in the industry.
