Marie Jürisoo, SEI’s Director of Global Operations, has been appointed as Deputy Director by the Board of Directors. In her new role, she will work closely with Måns Nilsson, Executive Director, and Åsa Persson, Research Director and Deputy Director, marking a return to a dual Deputy Director structure.

SEI is pleased to announce the appointment of Marie Jürisoo as its Deputy Director. Her journey with SEI began as an intern in 2008, illustrating a remarkable progression within the organization.
Marie has made significant contributions to SEI’s research landscape, particularly in climate, energy and development policy. With insights that have informed decision-making at European and international levels, she has also represented Sweden at pivotal global platforms like the United Nations Framework
Convention on Climate Change.
Marie’s tenure at SEI has been marked by various strategic roles. In 2018, she took on the responsibilities of the Operations Director, where she concentrated on enhancing the quality of operations and donor relations. Now, as she steps into her new role as Deputy Director, she looks forward to merging her operational insights with strategic direction and increased external engagements.
As newly appointed Deputy Director for SEI, my primary objective is to foster an environment that empowers every researcher to push the boundaries of their respective fields. At our core, we are dedicated to conducting rigorous scientific inquiry and impactful engagement that turns knowledge into action.
