Adriana Soto

Adriana works as a Research Associate at SEI Headquarters. She currently supports data collection and analysis in different projects related to water, sanitation and health under the Societal Transitions Unit. Her area of interest is interdisciplinary and participatory research focused on nature-based and context-oriented solutions for water and sanitation.

Prior to joining SEI, Adriana worked in projects related to water management and climate change adaptation in her home country (Bolivia). During this time, she conducted vulnerability analysis, produced training-materials and supported capacity-building and leadership of women for climate change adaptation as well as the inclusion of gender equity criteria in local adaptation plans of small river basins.

She holds a M.Sc. in Environmental Engineering and Sustainable Infrastructure from KTH Royal Institute of Technology and a B.Sc. in Ecology and Environmental Engineering from Universidad Tecnológica Boliviana. Her master thesis developed a scale tool to assess water and sanitation insecurity highlighting individual inequalities. It was conducted during her internship at SEI’s Sustainable Sanitation Initiative and tested in the informal settlements of Mukuru in Nairobi, Kenya.
