At the Summit, global representatives will explore actionable policy guidance, focused on the complete realization of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at all levels. The recently published Global Sustainable Development Report 2023 starkly highlights that the world is not on track to reach the goals by 2030. The report’s key takeaways will be in focus at the SDG Summit.

First, world leaders need to show that they stand by the promise and take decisive action to achieve the goals. Secondly, they must strengthen international cooperation and ensure longer-term financing for sustainable development. The world's rich countries have a great responsibility here.

Science Day statement

Co-authored by SEI, the UN Development Programme, the International Science Council and the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) on behalf of the event’s participants. The statement summarizes insights from Science Day, a 2023 High-Level Political Forum event which gathered scientists to help accelerate progress on the SDGs. It calls for strengthening the science-policy interface and creating a “global transformation road map” to address interwoven crises.
